Blog time 1110 at Panera

I was first up this morning.  A late 0630.  Took Ms P out.  The temp was 18 but should reach 45 this afternoon.  With DST the sun is not up until 0800.  Most folks want year round DST but I would prefer year round standard time.  I like the early morning sun.

Drove to the Y this morning.  The Y was empty.  Standard workout.  It took some time but I am back at my full workout.  A two week layoff requires more time to get back than 10 years ago.

This and that;

Australia, UK, China and other countries have grounded the Boeing 737 Max plane.  Would you fly on this plane?

The Irish Republican Army has mailed several explosive devices to England and Scotland.  Is this BRexit connected?  Sad to see if this terrorist group starts up again?

Only developers would do this.  Developers in the UK have placed plastic bags over trees they want to cut down.  Apparently this prevents birds from nesting.  Trees with active nests cannot be cut down.

Parents cheating to get their kids into elite schools is now the headline.  I don’t think this is a new issue.  It just caught some high profile folks.  Their kids are the big losers.  They have been humiliated.  Big question, could these kids have survived in the competitive environment of an elite school, especially if they marked on the curve.  Does anyone mark on the curve anymore?

PM May suffered a humiliating loss in parliament over her BRexit proposal.  I admire PM May’s fortitude but can she survive?

The new Captain Marvel movie is a big hit.  Growing up I loved reading the original Captain Marvel comic books.  Captain Marvel in the late 40s wore an orange uniform. Billy Batson and crew.  Shazam!

Today was sunny and bright with temps reaching mid 40s.  After lunch my activities included;

Paid first of four 2019 tax installments.
Put out last of corn for the deer.
Drove to Meijer’s to pick up prescription.
Continued on to Costco to buy wine, prunes, sandwich thins and scalloped potatoes.
Took a nap.
Fixed apple snack.

Nancy fixed the last of the beans and rice for dinner.  I had mine with some Irish soda bread.
Fixed Nancy her cheese and pill snack and then took a mile walk.

We watched NCIS.  Nancy headed to bed and I watched another episode of Secret City.

The temperature will be above freezing this evening.  Rain expected late tonight.
