Blog time 2130 sitting in motel room in Carson, CA

Our long day started at 0430 EST.  Today we are leaving the cold of MI and flying to sunny LA. It was 6 degrees when we left home at 0515.  No taxi today because we did not know if our flight would be delayed or canceled because of the weather.  Parked in the airport parking ramp.  The ramp was nearly full.  Is everyone leaving the cold for sunny climes?

Modern technology is great.  We downloaded our boarding passes to our cellphones.  We are not checking bags so we walked straight to security.  Nancy and I have purchased a Global entry pass so we are TSA Pre Checked, which means we sail through security.

The plane was on time.  However, as the plane was leaving the loading dock a passenger sitting two rows from us had a seizure.  The plane went back to the loading dock and the passenger was taken off the plane.

It was -6 when we got to Minneapolis.  I thought we might miss our plane but we arrived just as they started boarding.  Luck was with us.

The flight to LA was uneventful.  I had a chance to read the papers.  The unrest in Iran dominates the news.  Iran is a good example of an oppressive regime that is out of touch with it citizens.  In a democracy we have elections to throw the bums out.

The world economy seems to be chugging along.  In the USA wages are going up, the stock market is exceeding most experts forecasts despite the clowns in Washington.

As soon as we landed we got the shuttle to the Avis rental lot.  We rented a small Nissan.  First stop was Missy’s Condo.  We dropped AJ off.  She was glad to be home.  She missed her Mom and new dog, Cookie.

What a change in weather.  It was 69 and sunny in LA.

We are staying at a Hampton Inn in Carson, Ca.  We have stayed there before and it is very convenient.  We stopped at a Walmart in Carson and bought some wine, snacks, cheese and a small roast beef sub.  Next stop was the Dollar store for wine glasses and eating utensils.  We are both exhausted from our trip so we are eating in tonight.

We watched the news and learned of all the flu in LA.  One report said one of the worst things you can do during a flu outbreak is fly.  GULP!  Stay tuned.
