Labor Day 2019

Blog time 1500 sitting in den

Today I have designated as an easy day.  Foggy this morning but the sun will soon burn it away.

Nancy did take a short walk.  I did not.

About 0830 we got in the Escape and headed out.  We planned on driving south to Middleville for breakfast.  Stopped at Panera for a coffee to take with us.

On our drive south to Middleville we were amazed at all the development along M 37.  My comment to Nancy was we have to get out more often.  Every building had a Help Wanted Sign.

In Middleville I could not find the Midvilla Inn so we continued south to Hastings.  We drove through Hastings before finding a Breakfast eatery.  The place was jammed. Nancy had the senior bacon and eggs with two biscuits.  I had a scrambled egg with oatmeal and toast.  Tasty.

We drove west out of Hastings on Chief Noonday Road.  We passed through Yankee Springs Recreation area and The northern edge of Gun Lake.

Right before getting to US 131 we passed the Gun Lake Casino.  We stopped to look around.  The parking lot was full.  The Casino was a turn off for me.  90% of the gamblers were senior citizens.  You can smoke in the Casino.  The smell of cigarette smoke was strong.  Nancy played the slots for about 30 minutes.  I was glad to leave.

On our way north we stopped at the Tanger’s Outlet Mall.  I looked around Brooks Brothers and Merrill’s shoes but did not purchase anything.  Nancy bought a tee shirt at Talbots’s.

We drove straight home after the Outlet Mall.  All in all a very different morning.

I got my iPad out and read some news before lunch.  More reading after lunch and then a nap.  Hurricane Dorian dominated the news.

Labor Day for the Scott family has always been a day to relax and get ready for the fall season.  I cannot recall any special activities on Labor Day.

We had our standard Monday evening meal.  I fixed Nancy her cheese/cracker snack before taking a walk.

This evening we watched an episode of My Life is Murder on Acorn.  I stayed up and watched a Spanish language detective story set in Columbia.  Not very good.

Earlier this year I had great luck with foreign language Detective shows.  The past three shows I watched have been busts.

Rain expected for tomorrow.  The weather man said tomorrow will be the last 80+ day this year.  Time will tell.
